Laser Components Expands: New Production Plant for PbS and PbSe Detectors

Laser Components (LC), based in Olching, Germany, has announced the significant expansion of its R&D and production capabilities of IR components: Located in Phoenix, Arizona, the LC Detector Group opened a development division and a production plant for PbS and PbSe detectors. The company invests with a strong focus in IR technologolies.
Patrick Paul, general manager of the group said: “Since its founding in 1982, Laser Components has specialized in IR components. Gas measurements, for example, can be carried out using InGaAs, PbS/PbSe and pyrelectric detectors. Depending on what exactly needs to be measured, one technology is more ideal than the other.”
The first tests by selected customers have been completed. The quality is convincing and production has started. The Arizona State University ASU has enabled LC to become the technology leader in PbS/PbSe manufacturing. At ASU, LC has developed all these new detectors and inventive fabrication techniques. “We can truly say that we will advance the state of the art,” claims Dragan Grubisic, Laser Components Detector Group. The combination of both a customized process and automation has led to PbS and PbSe detectors that feature high sensitivity.
The products were presented at Photonics West 2015 in San Francisco, USA, for the first time. (Source: Optik & Photonik 1 / 2015)
