On April 5th, Avantes celebrated their 25 years of success in the production and development of spectrometers. During this celebration, CEO Benno Oderkerk reflected on the growth of the company and revealed a huge spectrometer as a piece of art in front of their headquarters.

Avantes started its activities 25 years ago in a shed in Eerbeek and has since evolved into a multinational organization with offices in the US and China. Since the move to Apeldoorn in 2011, Avantes has been supporting local initiatives to stimulate technical innovations, technical education and traineeships. We are also an active member of the European Photonics Industry Consortium EPIC and Photonics NL.

“Since the move to Apeldoorn in 2011, Avantes has doubled in both profit and number of employees! Thanks to continuous investments in innovation, Avantes is able to remain a frontrunner in the area of spectroscopy,” said Benno Oderkerk, CEO of Avantes.

Avantes is a world leader in the area of spectroscopy. Numerous spectroscopic applications are being utilized in various areas, such as medical, light measurement, semiconductor industry, solar energy, and agricultural. Avantes develops miniature spectroscopic systems for research and in-line measurement. A common measurement setup consists of a light source, a fiber-optic probe, and a spectrometer that analyzes the light spectrum. This system makes it possible to determine the chemical disposition of a sample, simply by analyzing light in the UV, visible, and near-infrared spectrum. These analyses are being utilized more and more often in quality control and process monitoring. (Source: Avantes)
