Stemmer Imaging AG is planning to float new and existing common shares by way of an initial public offering in Germany. The company is expected to be listed in the first half of 2018. With more than 260 employees in 19 countries in Europe, Stemmer Imaging generated sales revenues of € 88.3 M in the fiscal year 2017. Its extensive portfolio of services includes development, configuration and distribution of customized machine vision systems and solutions, distribution of components and systems from international manufacturers in the area of industrial machine vision, development and distribution of its own software for industrial machine vision, and comprehensive product and advisory services.

Stemmer Imaging was established in Germany in 1987 and has since then developed into one of the largest independent solution providers in the area of machine vision components and systems in Europe by means of, inter alia, product innovations and targeted acquisitions. The company wishes to strengthen its position and expand further.

By means of an asset deal, Stemmer Imaging has acquired Data Vision effective January 31, 2018. Data Vision is a highly specialized provider of imaging and machine vision solutions in the Netherlands. Data Vision, a business unit of Batenburg Mechatronica BV, is one of the most established brands in Benelux’s imaging and machine vision industry and has been successfully providing machine vision components, systems and solutions for many years.

“The acquisition by Stemmer Imaging is the logical next step in serving this market segment“, says Harm Hanekamp, managing director of Data Vision. “By being part of the Stemmer Imaging group, Data Vision will reach the next level and we can now follow our customers into Europe and benefit from Stemmer Imaging’s larger product range, and superior level of competence. Our corporate cultures are very similar and we know each other very well. This will strengthen services available for customers in the Benelux countries who will have access to the support and security they need to continue to develop their vision applications with our help”, concludes Harm Hanekamp.

Dietmar Serbée, director of Stemmer Imaging BV, emphasizes the growth opportunities of the combined entity. ”Stemmer Imaging’s and Data Vision’s product portfolio have a high degree of overlap in terms of suppliers represented. Thus, the businesses perfectly complement each other.”

According to Mr. Serbée, machine vision components manufacturers will also greatly benefit from the merger: “The acquisition is also beneficial for our suppliers, due to the doubling of the sales and support workforce through a competent partner with a high degree of market know-how and technical expertise. As one of Europe’s largest imaging technology providers, this enables us to support the technological developments of our manufacturers even better for the benefit of our customers.” (Source: Stemmer Imaging)
