Preview: Symposium Photonic Lightweight Construction

Following the successful conclusion of the federal German joint research project “Photonische Verfahren und Werkzeuge für den ressourceneffizienten Leichtbau“, the Laser Zentrum Hannover will be organizing the following events. (LZH) for the first time on 14 and 15 March 2018. The focus will be on laser-based machining processes for innovative lightweight construction concepts. In the long term, the aim of the symposium is to create a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience on the subject of “lasers and lightweight construction“.

In a two-day event in March, the LZH will bring together experts on the subject of lightweight construction with metals and fiber-reinforced composites. The first event is a get-together with dinner and process demonstrations in the LZH test field. The second day at the Hannover Production Technology Center will focus on how lasers can be more strongly established in the production of lightweight structures.

Whether for automotive and shipbuilding or aviation, the symposium deals with general topics such as beam sources or system and measurement technology for photonic lightweight construction, as well as specific applications in metal and fiber composite processing: For example, it deals with the welding of metals and mixed joints, the joining of metal-plastic connections, the processing and repair of fiber-reinforced components as well as process emissions and laser safety.
