Preview: Photonics Days Jena

In order to compete internationally, outstanding players in the future field of photonics should be brought together. For the first time, Photonics Days 2018 brings together the most important representatives of the industry at national level to shape the future of the optics and photonics industry together and actively.

For four days, the traditional Jena site is all about optics and photonics. From 3D technologies, ultra-precision engineering to coatings or lithography – national optics and photonics experts showcase the latest trends, representatives from a wide variety of industries come together to share their knowledge and our young researchers present their latest research ideas.

The Photonics Days Jena consist of the general meeting of the 3Dsensation research alliance, the interactive industry meeting Spots.on Photonics!, and an OptoNet workshop. On September 17, the alliance partners of 3Dsensation at the Fraunhofer IOF will present their current interim results and findings from the various funding projects at the general meeting. Spots.on Photonics! will then take place on September 18. In the Spot.On visions, Dr. Stefan Träger (Jenoptik), Dr. Andreas Eckardt (DLR), Prof. Michael Totzeck (Carl Zeiss AG) and Dr. Ferry Zijp (ASML) will show which developments await us in the coming years and which topics are worth taking a closer look at. In the Spot.On dialogues you have the opportunity to exchange ideas on topics of your choice and to ask questions to which you have not yet been able to find answers. The OptoNet workshop “Ultra Precision Manufacturing of Aspheres and Freeforms” brings together international experts from industry and research every two years for a first-class technology exchange on the latest manufacturing techniques, applications, and products in the field of ultra-precision machining and takes place on the last two days (September 19 and 20).
