The annual event continues the further strategy development of the Photonics Public Private Partnership in preparation of the new EU framework programme. On the second event day, the European photonics community will launch the strategy process for a new photonics multiannual roadmap for the next ten years. As inspiration for this strategy process the symposium on the first day will cover some high level ignite talks providing a globel view on European entrepreneurship and innovation ecoysystems, digitization and Internet of Things as well as a lively debate between the new and old economy.

The Horizon2020 Photonics Public-Private Partnership (PPP) was created to build on the strengths of the European photonics sector and reinforce its competitiveness. For this purpose, the European Commission joined forces with the photonics industry – represented by Photonics21 – and the research community.

“The result is a dynamic and effective partnership with three thousand members recognized as the best in class contractual PPP in Horizon2020 by the Commission’s independent evaluators, and as demonstrated by the PPP’s impact on jobs and growth in Europe,” summarized Aldo Kamper, president of Photonics21 and CEO Osram Opto Semiconductors.
