Preview: EOS Biennial Meeting

EOSAM is the flagship event of the European Optical Society (EOS) where the latest results in optics and photonics research will be presented. The meeting will take place at the Delft University of Technology, from October 8 – 12, 2018. The meeting includes several topical meetings, tutorials, autumn physics school on metrology for thin film materials, industrial exhibition, special sessions on EU Project result dissemination and Grand Challenges of Photonics, and more.

The Topical Meetings (TOMs) include: Silicon Photonics and Guided-Wave Optics; Free-form Optics for Illumination, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality; Optical System Design, Tolerancing, and Manufacturing; Bio-Medical Optics; Metamaterials, Plasmonics, and Resonant Nanophotonics; Frontiers in Optical Metrology; Organic & Hybrid Semiconductor Materials and Devices; Adaptive Optics & Information-driven Optical Systems, and Optical tapered fibers for light manipulation on the nanoscale.

Prior to the actual conference program, tutorials and autumn physics school are organized at the conference venue on Monday 8. Tutorials will cover the subjects of the TOMs. The Autumn Physics School on Metrology for Thin Film Materials is also held on Monday 8, parallel to the tutorials.

The keynote speakers include world-renowned names on different areas of the field. In the Grand Challenges of Photonics session, they discuss technologies which are revolutionary, uncommon and not realizable to date, but can pave the way for an even brighter future in optics and photonics.

Industrial attendees are being offered several opportunities during the week. The two-day industrial exhibition will once again be held alongside the conference program, on Wednesday and Thursday. Companies are also invited to send industrial posters to the TOM on Optical System Design, Tolerancing, and Manufacturing.

Already held within the World of Photonics Congress in 2017, the platform is again available at EOSAM 2018. We provide this platform for companies to enable extra visibility and chance to present their know how to the conference attendees. In this reviewed industrial poster session companies are entitled to present their key technology competences. There are also other exciting things planned for companies, among others, a “Meet and Greet” for companies and students. (Source: EOS)
